Zine Review:
Tazewell’s Favorite Eccentric
Tazewell’s Favorite Eccentric is the good kind of perzine. You know what I mean: the kind where the creator’s musings actually lead somewhere, and are actually about some interesting stuff. This collection of bits of Sarah Arrr’s life begins with a potent, terribly honest letter to “Boy,” listing her demands of love. Later on, she includes an unrepentant meditation on promiscuity–her own, its effect on her life, probable cultural causes, and what it all means in the current moment. She manages to stay just this side of dreary emo scribbling, mostly by acknowledging this tendency in herself. Tazewell’s doesn’t solve any of the world’s problems, and doesn’t even offer solutions to the troubles of its creator, but it does what a perzine is supposed to, and so it’s worth a look. (J.
