This collection of poems, all built out of instant message slang, acronyms and hip-hop and video game references, is prefaced with a note from the publisher noting that “if you don’t think the poems are good, don’t say I didn’t warn you,” making me feel like the zine is really an inside joke amongst friends. I started out with optimistic expectations, skimming through the exclamatorily titled poems, then reading and re-reading, trying to glean more from the fragmented, abrupt text. Fitzpatrick crams his poems with cultural references, but they do little work beyond referencing immediate time and a vague location of technologically-enhanced anywhere. (Sarah Pinder)
