Drippytown is a textbook case of life imitating art: it’s Vancouver-based, and Vancouver is one wet, drippy town. A collection of comics, commentaries, reviews and more, Drippytown offers great variety both in its content and its contributors. It leans heavily on its weirdo tilt, and it’s challenging at times, but on the whole, Drippytown is straightforward. You can follow a postmodern parody in “Nihilbert,” the silent screams of “Shrouded” or the not-so-pious love-in that is “Teen Jesus.” But for a real treat, be sure to check out Nicholas Gurewitch and his quickie untitled drawings-I love those bunnies, who use hot rabbit sex (and love) as a means of getting out of a hole. The tawdry tales of quasi-mascot Drippy are a lot of fun, too. Dude looks a lot like popular children’s hero Billy Blood Drop, except he’s got a taste for the sauce and a bit of a mouth on him. There’s some great stuff in here, but because of its sheer volume, it’s a bit tough to stomach in one sitting. Thus, for best results, take Drippytown with food. (Cameron Gordon)
