Cover is a strange image of a man whose neck is dissolving into plastic, entitled ‘Drawing the Passions’. Don’t really get it, but the mag looks interesting nevertheless, and besides, I should be able to enjoy a literary romp with a publisher named Buffalo Berry Press! I open it to the center: sun-yellow fold-out pages with disturbing images of a military copter in Somalia, and the sign “HERE IS AN ENGLISH CLASS”. The article about an archaeological excursion into suburban New Jersey grabs my attention for a few minutes. Overall, the layout’s good, and not over-done, though it’s a bit difficult to figure out where articles begin and end. The photography is excellent. Buried on page 24, I find some interesting discussion about the creepy cover, which turns out to be two faces superimposed on top of each other. Somehow, I decide, I like this mish-mash of tastes and focuses. (EPW)
