Double Shift _ Ladies Home Journal of Feminist Activism
Thick. It’s all “how_to” from here on in. How to fight, make linocuts, beautify your neighbourhood, and my fave, “de_corporatize the bathrooms of your workplace, school, college or university”. Of course, these are all suggestions for a more “accepting of women” atmosphere, just as the magazines of the 40’s for young women suggested you run around the house cleaning while making sure you never actually “perspire”. This is a journal you can keep on hand and refer to during those quiet times of feminist activism. It also includes a bevy of honest, well_written articles depicting crushed_but_you_know_what_i’m_not_taking_this_crap_anymore guerrilla/concerned rantings and ravings. Truly, the Eaton’s catalogue pics from the 40’s say so much more than was ever intended. “Snatch the power” indeed. (ME)
