This comic is perhaps most impressive for the fact that it was paid for entirely (as far as I know) by the University the contributors go to. It’s got a slick color cover and newsprint insides, just like a real comic! The comics therein are quite varied, without any kind of attempt at a specific identity for the entire book. Still, the whole endeavour has got to be encouraging for the comic artists who are a part of it. A few of the strips seem to share a common playfulness, such as the uncredited ‘Momcake’ and the highly entertaining ‘Devil’s Rectum’ and ‘Crazy (Caped! Mask) Capers’ by Adam. These strips contrast highly with some of the others, like the stylized and sombre ‘Hiver’ (also uncredited) and Nathan Wilkinson’s sentimental ‘Memento.’ It’s good to have some variety, but when there’s this much variety, it would help to have something in between these very different strips to give the whole comic some more flow. Still, it’s definitely got stuff in it to please just about anyone’s taste in comics. Also, it’s free, so you can’t complain about that. (LR)
