This starts out as a comic about three guys on a road trip to see Evel Knievel come out of retirement to jump a canyon. But then it becomes steadily more incomprehensible. It’s dedicated to Danish film director Lars von Trier, which offers a clue to the style and story being aimed at here. (We’re talking here about the von Trier of The Kingdom and The Idiot, not Breaking the Waves). Anyway, this book is very well-drawn, and when it stays within the bounds of a comprehensible story, it’s fairly well-written as well. After that, I found myself steadily losing interest. (KJ)
