The first thing you might ask yourself is “What community are they talking about?” Well, specifically it’s the Calgary all-ages punk community. Over the course of a couple months paper and pen was left at various all-ages shows and people were encouraged to write, draw, whatever. The finished product is an eclectic, if somewhat sloppy, handwritten zine where people talk about what’s on their minds, be it white supremacist posters popping up on a main strip, or going punk rock bowling. It’s the WAY this zine was made that is inspiring, more than what’s actually inside it. The idea that this zine isn’t done by a single person but rather a community’s collective effort embodies everything that I love about punk rock and zines. (GS)
