Punk is supposed to be intense, but Xyster goes beyond punk’s over-bearing brash psuedo- intensity and makes it real. Whether it’s Brian writing about lonley planet life, clinical depression and Sperger’s Syndrome or Nicole writing about a strange cycle of harrassment she can’t or won’t do anything about, this goes beyond the nomenclature of a scene, any scene, and stands out as truly powerful confessional writing. There’s also an interview with Cog and a five pages of zine reviews that cover a lot of British Columbia zines you probably haven’t heard off.
