Mary’s computer got stolen and she lost her urge to create, but then she found it again (her urge, not the computer). Mary’s friend Rachel told her: “Your edge is that you’re you. You’re not a vegetarian, you’re not a lesbian, you’re not in Greenpeace, you’re not oppressed: you’re just you.” Fabulous advice that all would-be zinesters should take to heart. Mary struggles against the formulaic education process, but sticks with it all the same. Then Mary gets a job as a camp counsellor, and realizes that “from now on, with the exception of a few weeks off for vacations, I will have to work until I retire.” There’s an interview with ex-zinester Mike Small, who now heads up the Meligrove band. There’s also an interview with some guy named Hal. Don’t miss the bonus insert on dreams. Excellent zine, every page worth reading. (Hal Niedzviecki)
