As noted in one of the letters to SHE travels, the traveller’s wish to “get off the beaten path” is what this magazine is about. Not just in the sense of destination, but with women travellers (alone or otherwise) in mind. The articles, diverse and well written, give the reader a firm impression of women from, and going to, points around the globe confidently, wisely and with great curiosity. One piece was a hints and tips piece on travelling with a disabled companion. Another was something of a photo essay on Vietnam. Then a good story on New Zealand featuring must see out of the way things to visit, and points of interest you’d never find in a brochure, like museums, exhibits and books about Maori and rural women. There are also classified ads, listings of self improvement type vacations, even a dash of poetry. A good read, and worth the dough if you’re a curious traveller with a bit of money.
