The info here indicates that Tamblyn’s comic was written to correspond with the work of the ‘new music’ band Toca Loca. The single-panel images have a sort of rough, string-of-pearls narrative to them, with sounds, places and people all illustrated up close.
With musical accompaniment, this project would feel more complete than in does when consumed in my silent apartment–this collection feels like liner notes, which (according to Tamblyn’s introduction) probably means it’s doing its job. (Sarah Pinder)
