Interference

Hamish has put together a quick moving collage-a-thon. He has two interviews with zine- makers. One with BC zinsters Janet, Lashia and Concerned Citizen. I’m not sure what their zine is called, but hey, I think it’s called Hey You. Anyway, talk at the beginning is about their zine falling into the wrong hands, particularly people at their high-school. The other interview is with Jason Horton of New York who does the zine Hellbender. He discusses the equally valid problem of zines interviewing the same indie band hundreds of times. I could go on at length about this problem but will only say one word: Sloan. I enjoyed the Nationalities of Vampire Lore feature with all its details about vampiring in Denmark, Borneo, Croatia and other undead positive locales. There’s a long piece about racism which seems to end by condemning all white power advocates to death — interesting — and a travel diary trip to Buffalo to see a Bills game and shop. This huge zine is plenty good reading but I warn you: it’s so big it might interfere with your social life.
