Despite the sickeningly saccharine title, The Sunny Yellow Tiger Of The I Ching is a fairly engaging read. More like a 32-page novella than a poem, there’s a piece of Debbi Waters’ soul in this book. God, sex, drugs and a yellow tiger jump back and forth across the pages in a story of…uh…god, sex and drugs. It’s interesting how a series of poems about these topics could be onerous, but woven together as a larger piece, they’ve got enough of a structure to place those items in an appropriate context. I guess I’d just rather read one long one than fifty short ones if they’re all just going to be on the same topic anyway. (SA)
