Omegaman

“Omegaman uses whatever he can,” reads the sleeve for this cryptic lo-fi tape. Reverbed-out guitar and feedback mingle with weird tape samples – like rants about Brian Mulroney and the producer of City-TV’s Fashion Television saying “so – where are those two girls you promised?” There’s also an instrumental for acoutic guitar and tuning fork (“D288percMinor). The highlights of this epic cassette are “Ku Klux Klanada,” a deadpan mock-racist manifesto over acoustic guitar performed by Brian “Hajimae” Okamoto, and “Tastes great, less filling,” a minor-key rant about the punk lifestyle – “Save the whales, eat the rich / smash the state, life’s a bitch.” I especially like the list of all the equipment used to produce the thing (perhaps inspired by Chicago’s Tortoise?), including basement gear like “Hondo Les Paul imitation” and “Fisher ghetto blaster.” Omegaman is clearly a dude with the letters “DIY” carved into his soul.
