Yet another local zine making the jump to being free, which shows that devotion to the music and to the scene are the editors’ main priorities. This time there’s an interview with Iowa’s Multiple Cat, a piece on Montreal’s Grimskunk, and record reviews galore. The scanned record covers are often hard to decipher, and the layout is still less than tight, but all in all this still serves its purpose quite well. The records reviewed vary from the likes of Fugazi and Jesus Lizard to Toronto’s Priya Thomas and Danko Jones. A new section of print reviews even gives Broken Pencil a big thumbs-up. (LR)
