This one may be a bit of a stretch. It’s not really a ‘zine, more of an academic journal. And it’s not really Canadian since the files live on a computer at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania. Nevertheless, I’m throwing it in here just because it’s way to great to ignore. Besides, it’s sponsored by the Canadian Journal of Political and Social Theory and is moderated by Concordia University’s Arthur Kroker, Canada’s premier electronically enhanced pomo academic. This guy writes like Bruce Sterling in a fugue state; almost impossible to follow at first, but if you hang in there long enough you begin to catch his rhythm. The regular contributors are some of the greats: Jean Baudrillard, Kathy Acker, Hakim Bey. Don’t miss the awesome rant on why the movie version of Johnny Mnemonic was the last nail in the coffin of cyberpunk.
