As part of International Zine Month, we’ll be posting a zine review a day on our blog in July. Today’s review is from Issue 52.
Zine, Timothy Colman, 4612 Baltimore Ave #1F, Philadelphia PA, 19143, USA, [email protected], $2
Dad is Timothy’s Fun-A-Day project, where for every day in January he wrote something about his father. Timothy’s father was an anti-apartheid activist in South Africa in the 1970s. This quarter page zine uses both typewritten and computer typed pages to tell stories of grief, loss, denial and the regret we sometimes feel when we lose someone we love. Also included is an excerpt from the author’s Oral History project on the involvement of gay and lesbian activists in the South African resistance. This zine is well-written and touching: Definitely worth checking out. (Samantha Trees)
