Canzine 2023 is only days away! We’re counting down to the biggest zine event of the year with spotlights on some of the vendors, zinesters and artists in attendance. For this edition, meet Constant Yen, whose revelries in cartoonland are a craft of their own.
So Constant, what’s going to be on your table at Canzine?
Mini-zines, prints, and stickers. I’m going to have some prints of my artwork alongside a selection of phytogram* prints I made earlier this year. [*a technique that uses the internal chemistry of plants for the creation of images on photographic emulsion.]
What’s the “vibe?”
Playfulness is a must! I need the process to be fun and sporadic and hope that energy is captured and comes across in my finished work.
Okay so what zines of your are you MOST excited about?
I’m excited to debut Float like a Butterfly at Canzine. It’s a sixteen page collection of butterfly drawings and also my first time self-printing with risograph! I am equally excited to share a silly new Simpsons fanzine.
Find Constant at the Canzine Festival of Zines and Underground Press this Sunday, October 22nd in Toronto at the Cecil Community Centre from 10AM – 5PM. You can find out more information about vendors and programming at our official Canzine hub.
With thanks to our amazing Canzine sponsors: Seneca Polytechnic and Drawn Together!
