Seeing the Ramones for the first time (on television in Rock and Roll High School) changed my life forever. But, with a few minor exceptions, I never got into any other buzz-saw, punk-pop bands partly because the Ramones more than fed that jones but also because the brudders were genuine freaks whereas all their children were bruisers or dudes or angry boys. I was just confused and that’s why I liked them. Bands like Chixdiggit saw the cartoon but not the abject frustration, so they make joyous, pogo-friendly, joke-rock tunes and I guess there’s a place for such music but not on my ipod. (Terence Dick)
