100 issues of zines, comix, counterculture, strangeness, indies, icons and iconoclasts alike. 100 issues of self-published magnificence. 100 celebrations of the underground, the alternatives, the oddities. And now the celebration is coming to YOU.
On January 25th, 2024 at See-Scape (2840 Dundas St W. in the Junction) we will be celebrating 100 issues of Broken Pencil. It will be an evening of zinesters, artists, karaoke, trivia, readings and shoulder-rubbing. Making the evening even more spectacular is that we will be holding the ZINE AWARDS ceremony at the same time! Announcing the winners of the 2023 Zine Awards live on stage, awarding the best comic, infozine, litzine, artzine, political zine, perzine, fanzine and, of course, ZINE OF THE YEAR!
Doors will open at 7PM, with the Zine Awards beginning around 8:30PM. Following the zine awards we will engage in karaoke, so get those pipes warmed up. Activities like readings, trivia and Mad-Libs will be dispersed through the evening.
Entry is $5 and includes the 100th issue. Subscriptions and zines will also be available on-site.
