Canzine West is coming up this Saturday! Here are some vendors to look out for:
Ho Tam Press
Ho Tam is a Vancouver-based artist whose practice revolves around two publications: Hotam and Poser. Hotam, published quarterly, straddles the line between art book and magazine, using a range of mediums in order to explore a different theme for each issue. Poser is a full-colour photography publication which focuses on candid street portraits, also centred around a theme. “I never take more than one photograph” Ho Tam writes on his website. “It is both an exciting and nerve-wracking experience.”
Risa Hugo
Hugo moved from Japan to Vancouver at the age of 16, graduating from Emily Carr Univeristy in 2012. Her work mixes digital techniques and traditional mediums including ink and watercolour, and incorporates conflicting themes of delicacy and violence. Zines that Hugo has written include 2011 Melancholia and Killing Monster.
Courtney Presber
Doubling as both artist and designer, Presber works in a variety of mediums and styles. She has a diverse aesthetic sensibility which lends itself to abstract work, poster design, and her colourful Notebooks series. The accompanying image is from her amazing collage series Remnants.
Come check out these talented vendors, along with the rest of our exciting lineup! See you Saturday!
