Deathmatch 2019 is done! And the winner is… Charlotte Joyce Kidd.

WE HAVE A WINNER!

You hyped. You trash-talked. You voted. Story was pitted against story. Blood was shed and pencils were broken. But ultimately, only one could survive… Charlotte Joyce Kidd and her story “Little” have emerged victorious in the Indie Writer’s Deathmatch 2019!

Her story will be published in Broken Pencil alongside runner-up Jill M. Talbot’s “A Fish Named Ginsberg”, and our semi-finalists, “Planetfall” by Donnie Schultz and “Bubbles” by Larry Brown.

Kidd will also be taking home $400 cash and undergoing The Ultimate Literary Makeover, including meetings with: editor Dan Simon, founder of NYC’s Seven Stories Press; Literary agent Sam Hiyate, founder and director of The Rights Factory, writer of Mooncalves, Victoria Hetherington, and writer, fiction editor, and founder of Broken Pencil, Hal Niedzviecki.

We look forward to catching up with Kidd in the future, so stay tuned for our Q&A with her in the weeks to come!
