The Laugh Sabbath comedy collective in Toronto is looking to put on a festival of short comedy films, and they want you to help them fund it.
The group’s aim is to put the spotlight on independent comedy films that might not get attention otherwise, and deserve to be seen and enjoyed by Toronto audiences. ( Interested in entering? Check out the call here. Deadline is April 1.)
They are looking to raise $2,000 to cover advertising, promotion, equipment rental fees, venue fees and provide awards to the winning films. If they don’t make the goal, the money that’s been raised so far – $1, 435 so far as of Wednesday Feb. 27 – will be used solely for awards for the winning films. The festival itself is not dependent on the money raised, but every cent will go towards giving the event wider promotion and making it better overall.
Perks include free tickets to Laugh Sabbath’s Thursday night shows, t-shirts and other swag, ad space, film festival screeners, and sponsor status. For $1,000, some lucky person will get a short film written and produced about them (it’s sold out, unfortunately.)
If you’ve ever enjoyed one of Laugh Sabbath’s shows, now is your opportunity to give back – to them and to the wider community of comedy filmmakers and appreciators. Check out their IndieGogo page here and donate! And watch the film fest trailer below.
