MONTREAL

Four Minutes to Midnight zine launch, Le Cagibi, 7:30pm, 5490 Boulevard Saint-Laurent, $5/$18 with copy of issue Part of Howl! Arts Festival. Four Minutes to Midnight is an experimental literary arts zine working at the intersection of typography, poetics and radical politics. The launch will also feature the music of Loosestrife / Stefan Christoff / John “Triangles” Stuart.

Kevin Spenst, Amy Kenny & Benny Langedyk, 7:30pm, Epic Books, 226 Locke Street South Our poet-at-large Kevin Spenst is doing a 100-venue book tour (read his most recent blog post about it here.) He’ll be sharing the stage with Ann and Benny. Hosted by Gary Barwin.

Toronto Strip Spelling Bee, 11pm, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, 12 Alexander Street, $10 The game is played a lot like strip poker, but it’s a spelling bee, and it’s played in front of a live audience of hooters, hollerers and hecklers who want to see some smart and sexy skin!

Fan Fiction: The Show, Harry Potter, 8pm, Black Swan Tavern, 154 Danforth Avenue, $10 Original fan-generated material from authors all over the world, performed live by Toronto’s funniest comedians. This month ‘Fan Fiction The Show goes head to head with he who must not be named.

This time, it’s our annual ANYTHING GOES SLAM, which means it’s time to break those rules.
