Tuesday, September 24, 7pm, Purview: Kevin Rodgers and Claire Grady-Smith, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre, 21 Queen Street

Purview is a new series of artist talks held at Modern Fuel. Member artists and creators will talk about their projects and also engage with other artists —learning their influences, concerns and questions—and an occasion for artists to gain valuable insight and feedback from their peers. Rodgers and Grady-Smith bring a wealth of curatorial, academic and creative experience to the table as artists and writers and this is a great-sound new series.

The venerable This Magazine is launching a great new film series featuring political/socially themed documentaries. The first screening is Wal-Town, a look at the chain store’s effect on communities and retail culture across Canada. A panel discussion moderated by editor The panel, moderated by This editor Lauren McKeon, includes: journalist John Lorinc (Spacing, Globe and Mail), Friends of Kensington organizer Dominique Russell and Shahil Thomas, who works with the Metcalf Foundation on Resilient Neighbourhood Economies.

 

Chip Zdarsky and Matt Fraction launch their new comic Sex Criminals at the sexy Wicked Club, with a Q & A moderated by burlesque/performance artiste extraordiaire Sasha.

The delightfully morbid/moribund lecture series continues with a talk on the history of horror in video games!
