AMAZING NEWS! BP illustrator and all-round cool guy Matthew Daley has been nominated for a Gene Day Award – part of the 2013 Joe Shuster Awards. The Gene Day nod (named after the late Howard Eugene Day) honours Canadian comic book creators or creative teams who self-published their work.
Daley was nominated along with writer Cory McCallum for their book The Pig Sleep – the first full-length book featuring our good buddy Mr. Monitor (who has his own regular strip in BP).
Congrats to Matt and Cory for this amazing achievement – you deserve it! The award will be presented during a gala ceremony on August 25. The winner of the Gene Day Award will get a $500 bursary. Check out a complete list of nominees here – and wish ’em luck.
