Absent-Cause #3: Literary Supplement

Almost hitting 60 pages worth of text and images, this zine is filled with an abundance of context, most of which is enjoyable. The zine is a collection of short stories, poetry, photographs and illustrations, all of which share dark and gothic themes. The visual art is a mixed bag of weird, oddly comical and disturbing stuff. The poetry epitomizes the gothic/emo (sub)genres but is still fairly thoughtful and emotionally evocative. The short stories make up the meat of the zine and they are absolutely delicious. Overall, this was an entertainingly dark, chilling and absorbing read. (Terry Harjanto)
