In his letter, young David wrote that this was originally an insert for a CD he was working on. Which leads to the conclusion that these little poems are actually song lyrics. That’s how they read anyway. There’s “Whitehead”, the story of teenage pimple popping, and there’s “snowfootball” (you can guess what it’s about). Problem is, they work as liner notes rather than poems. They don’t really have the strength to stand alone without the music. Write David, and tell him you want to hear the music first, rather than reading the lyrics and imagining what the songs sound like. (Skot Deeming)
