Corn Smut

This is a great little brown chap by Montreal poet, Jason Gallagher. Once again he does not disappoint. His work is guttural, visceral, gutsy. I like how Gallagher writes his poems like they’re conversations. He is adept at constructing strong images. When I read his work, I can often hear it being read out loud. I believe that’s an indication of just how strong the narrative voice is. Gallagher is not afraid to take risks and be angry or scatological. He is also highly skilled at creating depressing, images of desecration and, I congratulate him on this ability! (AK)
