DaDazine, resplendent in a purple cover, lives up to its standing as a former zine of the month. Contributors include the foul-mouthed Dr. Arthur Corrupto — your problems are inspiration for his venomous diatribes, and Michelle, Queen of English, who reviews Douglas Coupland’s novel Cosmic Bond. Not only is Michelle a welcome addition to the zine, but the fact that she reviews books is like, well, next to amazing within the context of the zine world. The reviews in DaDazine say a lot about the zine overall — 2 music reviews, one photo exhibit, one trip to Regg Hartt’s Cineforum (a Toronto institution not for the faint of heart) and the book. In other words, here is a zine that has decent, if not ground-breaking eclectic content. (When was the last time you found a zine that reviewed art in a gallery and an actual novel?) Other high-lights include editor Venus’ rant about denial, Your Guide to Ancient Symbols and the bawdy comic Big Sweater Boy. And remember: the fruit of the date palm, the secret to more than just Dali’s mustache…
