zine review:
Eyes Move Rapid
Completely wordless (with the exception of a few animal noises), Eyes Move Rapid is an interesting, albeit somewhat disturbing, comic zine that follows a life form that falls from space and onto our planet. This life form, formless upon landing on Earth, journeys through the wilderness, emulating various animals it encounters along the way. The copies aren’t flawless; they’re transparent, displaying a detailed look at the inner workings of each beast. The life form emulates animals from the bottom and top of the food chain, living briefly what life is like within its skin.
While the underlying message is unclear, the actual content is quite intriguing. The drawings are smooth and interesting, and while the end is somewhat abrupt without any real conclusion, it’s getting there that makes it well worth it. The full-colour cover and bright white paper make for a splendid presentation and an interesting zine that I hope continues. I will definitely follow this artist and his work. (Tara Blackmore)
