A guy named Knockers gets killed by an air conditioner falling on his face. A guy named Wanders wanders around trying to get why a nice kid like Knockers, who only “huffed a little glue,” gets killed by an air conditioner while he, Wander, who does a little h and drinks a lot, never gets hurt. “It just happened. That’s dumb though. If he just died, then it meant his death didn’t mean anything. Or his life. He just died. He just died. But that means he’s a fly and I could have swatted him away. And that means I am a fly too.” Wander wanders over to Teeth’s house, then back to his own house where he beats up his dad until his mother gets a gun and kills him. Some lovely, savage use of language. “‘Don’t do it,’ he whispered. And she fired. The bullet, tearing at its bit, flew out of the gun, its arms outstretched in blissful anticipation. ‘Oh yum.’ And Wander died.”
