Okay this wasn’t as hard-core as might have been expected, more of a travel ‘zine then a down- town TO gay/punk scene thing. Our author travels to New York, Mexico and Peterborough ever in search of punk-rock, queer punks, and social justice. The account of the trip to Mexico — translated, like much of this ‘zine, into Spanish — was particularly memorable perhaps because of the contrast between the personal experiences of our writer and the disseminated news reports and visual images we have of what is going on in that country. Most of Alan’s time in Mexico is spent following around this punk band Los Crudos. He lists the various concerts he attends in and outside of Mexico City and tells us how they were. Alan is not given to rhetoric and his short factual accounts let us inside his experiences without romanticizing them. Rebellion, anarchy, disappointment, confusion and beauty — the world according to Homocore.
