This is an assortment of short stories by a collective of young men and women. The nine tales included in this collection run the gamut of subjects of concern to most teenagers: parents, school, summer jobs and, of course, having your foreskin disappear while you sleep. There’s even a story written in French for our Quebecois friends. If I had to pick my favourite story, I’d choose “What She Had to Do,” a short, third-person account of a young lady’s attempt to finance her post-secondary education via the sauciest of means. Let’s just say that it’s questionable and, well…. who am I to pass judgement? The stories here are fun, at times thought-provoking and overall lacking the pretension often associated with this type of project. Bound in a handsome burlap cover with a hand-painted “Nine of Clubs” design, this is a great addition to any collection of independent literature. (CG)
