This fabulous zine is a collection of recipes and patterns. By reading Mimi, you can learn how to make chapstick, a variety of cool tuques, pillows and clothing. It’s all about creating your own things and being independent. It’s about having fun and being creative. The text is all typed out in beautiful oldschool typewriter font, complete with lots of typing mistakes. The graphics are beautiful and the zine is quite big (regular magazine size) and lies flat, for easy consultation. I liked the drawings for the patterns too (man, do I ever wish I could sew and draw.) The editor got indie musician Emm Gryner to write a piece about songwriting for the zine. And yep, there are a few reviews, but they’re well placed and well done. Get a copy of Mimi if you want some cool things to do this winter, and you need some inspiration. They’re looking for contributors, so you might want to send them your cool patterns and recipes, etc. Long live D.I.Y!! (AK)
