Why someone would send this in for review continues to baffle me. It’s a diary that follows a year in the life of a girl who has recently moved from Vancouver to Toronto. Sounds like it could have potential but trust me, it doesn’t. The entries tell us how she feels starting grade 12 at a new school. They also feature what seem to be rather desperate attempts at fitting in with her new group of friends. She goes to raves and is straight edge but ends up giving in and trying ecstacy, has sex with her new boyfriend even though she doesn’t want to, etc. But what makes it all worthwhile is the last page, which features the lyrics to “From the Bottom of My Broken Heart” by Britney Spears! If you’ve been dying to know the lyrics to that tune, this diary is for you. (Katie Coveos)
