“Canada’s Independent Labour Magazine” says it all. The cover article is about 13 workers from across Canada who went to Ottawa and met unexpected success lobbying for a law that would make corporate bigwigs criminally responsible for the injuries and deaths of their employees. Another great article is about how labour disappeared from Canadian news during the 90s as Conrad Black and others were building their media empires. There’s a boring article about workers debating whether they wanted the 2008 Olympics in Toronto, with people who would get jobs saying yes, and people who wouldn’t saying no. Surprise surprise. On a better note, there is a hilarious interview with an “anonymous stock broker” that explains the stock market in terms that we can all understand. All and all, it’s a pretty good publication for those of us who think there is still hope for unions. (Frandroid Atreides)
