Pepperpot is a zine that deserves your time and attention, so get it, sit down with it, and don’t let anyone bug you for a couple of hours (depending on how fast you read.). And when you finish reading it, stay put and write Kate a letter. A self-described ‘rebel with menopause,’ she’s the kind of person you can, and should, learn a lot from. The best thing about her honest- straightforward approach is that it doesn’t make any base assumptions about the reader, and yet it doesn’t insult the savvy of the politically astute. Both your grandmother and the punk kid next door can pick this up and enjoy the same piece about anarchy – I swear. Issue #3 features articles on herbal medicine, the evils of television, and child-rearing; #4 features articles on the occupation of Tibet, freight-hopping and being stalked; #5 features a DOA show review, womyn’s health (sorry to interrupt, but here’s an interesting note — my spellcheck won’t accept this spelling of womyn: Corel=patriarchy ), and vegan recipes. Yay! Everyone wants to have a mother like Kate, but most will have to settle for reading her zine. (MM)
