My role model in high school was Elissa McBride. Her dad was a Deadhead (mine liked the Irish Rovers), she wore motorcycle boots (I wore Converse hi-tops), and she hung out with real musicians (I snuck into concerts, too afraid to talk to anyone). I remember when she played Nitzer Ebb for the first time at a school dance; I was already a know-it-all record geek but I had never even heard of this. I felt both elated and humiliated. Primes covered Nitzer Ebb on an early CD. Their new record reminds me of my mid-80s high school dances and a mid-90s concert with Atari Teenage Riot. Now it’s the mid-00s and the cycle continues.
