This is a great outing for Psychlone. Starts out with the heavy hitting essay on how English professors killed literature – “a jumbled mess of intellectual garbage getting in the way of actually enjoying reading” is how Steve puts it. Then there’s a report on a speech by journalistic war-horse Knowlton Nash (surprise, the world’s going to hell in a handbasket) and the very engaging Looking In from the Outside: A quick look at two cultures from their media, in which Steve analyses Australian newspaper and Japanese television and makes snappy conclusions which, from what I’ve heard about the 2 countries, are pretty dead on. Question: what do Owen Hart, Devo and Fight Club have to do with each other? They too, are in Psychlone. (HN)
