Maybe there’s a whole lot more going on in Ontario’s favourite casino city than we think. Or, maybe there isn’t. Room seems like it’s on the verge of telling us everything we need to know about Windsor night-life, music, readings, visual art etc. It seems like it’s going to tell us these things, but somehow it doesn’t. Maybe it’s just that the articles all have a chipper sameness to them, a sort of we’re writing this stuff because it’s what there is to write about even though it probably doesn’t matter and half these bands aren’t worth writing a sentence about blah blah blah. So okay, the writing could be a lot less generic. Let’s think positive here: Room is still in its infancy. The listings seem on top of what is going on. The restaurant reviews are entertaining if a trifle on the goofy side. On My Knees, the featured comic, is spooky and alive. They support localized cultural activities other than black-jack.
