Sub-Terrain

Skip the first ten pages, complete with award-winning writers, and get right into the good stuff. “Let Them Eat Shit” — well, the title alone! And then there’s the graphic, a representation of the human heart, belly and dick. The bonus is, the article itself is great. Follow this up with a great poem by Jim Perrone: “My uncle’s bum is large/and misshapen-/I hide behind him. Cumba Milie’s wife cries as we come in/In the living room/between Papa and zio Anotonio/Cumba Milie hangs from the ceiling…” There’s some great stuff here, stuff suffused with loss, but wrought with hope.
