The Ninth Wave

Basically, in this journal of nocturnal culture, you get a big blend of stuff that loosely rotates around the Goth scene, including a few lamentations about Goth being the next big fad and what a drag it is when alternative gets so big that it’s mainstream again. Woven in varying fancy goth and gothish fonts, there’s actually a huge variety of stuff in The Ninth Wave. Music figures in with interviews featuring Kate Bush, The Curtain Society and Perfume Tree. Books get good solid coverage in the form of reviews of goth and general fiction, even a bit of poetry. And of course there’s the mythology section; this issue detailed the history of the duel and Day of the Dead in Mexico, and let’s not forget the recipe for Absinthe. The original fiction and poetry published in Ninth Wave circled around goth themes too, including a to-be-continued piece that wasn’t all that gripping… yet. Tons of other stuff sneaks in here and there, symbolism of jewellery, music reviews, ‘zine reviews news and notes and a few top 10 lists eg. Top Ten “You Know You’re Getting  Old in Toronto When You Remember…. Queen Street ending’ at Spadina.”
