The randomness works to create a kaleidoscopic effect that draws your attention from one thing to the next. Example of the contents: “writers write everything from the ten commandments/to the 12-step program/…writers make excuses/why the world isn’t perfect/ why the weather was lousy/ why the gun was loaded/ why the child was killed/ why the plane was late/ why the promise was broken/ why the truth was a lie/ why the dinner was cold/ why the old man/ lived a very hard life/ and died a hard death.” An enjoyable read.
