Writing Space publishes poetry, but mostly it is comprised of interviews with writers about the writing life. There are also features that work by letting writers respond in print to a seemingly abstract concept like ‘silence’. The sensibility of the Writing Space is gentle and honest, making it a rare and almost tragic read. The most challenging aspect of the Writing Space is its interest in the struggle of the day to day. At times it almost reads like an anthropological monograph exploring the devastating attrition of some dying tribe.
