film review:
Zombie Girl: The Movie
Call this Lost in La Mancha for the teenage set. Emily Hagins is a 12-year-old filmmaker intent on creating a zombie flick, starring friends from her school and local extras in Austin, Texas. The doc tracks down people who support Emily’s vision, especially her keener mom/boom mic operator. The shots of Emily looking frustrated paint a realistic portrait of a teen in over her head, but once you gestate the message of the entire film, you begin to realize it’s a poignant summary of a dreamer chasing her dream. Ideal for directors at any level. (David Silverberg)
