Whether you’re a first time writer or a seasoned pro, we’ve got a ton of different publications, themes, and formats that are accepting new work. What’s the worst that could happen?

Call for Submissions: The New Inquiry Prisons Issue

The New Inquiry, one of the left’s favourite and most controversial rags, is looking for submissions for a February and March double issue on prisons — specifically for essays, letters, poems, conversations, interviews, forums, and texts. Priority to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated writers. Check out the post!

Call for Submissions: (b)OINK Zine

This new zine seeks “in-your-face fiction, poems, and creative nonfiction that are experimental, gut-wrenching, terrifying, stultifying, breakneck speed, sex-driven, whooshing out, secretive, extinctive, newly-formed words. Think Ice Capades on Acid, think Mommy Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus, etc.”

Call for Entries: Del Sol First Novel Contest

D.C. based Del Sol Press is looking for exceptional novels of a variety of genres for their First Novel contest. The winner gets $1,500 and publication in Fall 2017. Unfortunately it’s only open to folks who live in the US. If that’s you, send in those manuscripts.

Kill people! Kill them now! With writing, of course. The rules are simple: someone has to be killed before, during, or afer the time the story takes place. 1000 words or less, no natural deaths. Get into it.

Call for Illustrators: We Testify

Comics for Choice is partnering with We Testify, a group of women, trans and nonbinary folks who tell their own abortion stories to fight back against the continuing attacks on abortion care. These are powerful stories, and they are seeking illustrators and comic artists to help! Money raised by the project will go to National Network of Abortion Funds. More info here. 

Call for Artists: RUDE Collective Queer Desire

The RUDE Collective is looking for video, installation and performance work for their second event in Toronto. The theme? Queer love and desire! Let’s think about decolonized love, love as community, being single, non-monogamy, non-eurocentric conceptualizations of queerness, all that good stuff.
