From the Gut

“Notice: This magazine has been written by street youth, some of these stories may be very disturbing to read but they are very true. If you cannot read them please go on to a different story. Thank you. The editors.” So begins From the Gut. And there are some pretty desperate moments: “He died an angry, lonely young man/So Jesus stuck his hands down his pants -/for a passion he did not want/They all died angry and lonely.” But there are some positive moments too: “In my life I’ve carried so much/But one thing I carry that no one else can/Is me./And I think I carry myself well.” There’s rapists and child molesters, drug addicts and prostitutes, and a recipe for stew.
