An orgy of women-focused sex stuff aimed at “keeping Middlesex County the largest androgenous zone in Canada.” Girlcult is a fun-loving zine (literally) and is dedicated not just to the joys of lust, but to giving lust the hilarity it deserves. The poetry in sex-oriented zines is usually awful. But in the cult of Girl, poetry is just another teasing game: “If I had my way/I’d tie her all up/and whip her hot ass/until she gave up/And then I’d hit harder/To just hear her weep/But instead we took pills/And both fell asleep”. The erotic fiction has a similar perverse but happy tone, Jen Frankel’s Loving The Alien in particular. Also notable was the handy article on appliances, a review focusing on catalogues and what they offer. But don’t worry, you don’t need a dildo to join Girlcult.
